WHAT THIS PROVIDES: A generic rendering/draw of GPX tracks that allows multiple 'renders' to be included as a part of the draw of any TrkSegment. These 'renders' include the basic track drawing, but also other options such as dashed lines, rainbow-coloured altitude indication, speed indication, arrows to point direction, animating 'lines' showing direction of movement, and dots/text showing 1km (or any other) distances along tracks. It's very extendable and incredibly cheap in terms of procesisng speed. For a view of some of these operating on this version of the code, see https://youtu.be/aRGCNLmBAlk Additionally, all of the above have automatic asynchronous track resampling - either via line culling of Ramer-Douglas-Peucer (implemented for the base track draw at different zooms), or an actual resampler that takes a distance and steps off and creates a new track with points spaced exactly that distance apart along the original track. The asynchronous resampling/culling willl automatically enable the new (optimal) track display when the background task has completed. This is completely up to date with the master branch as of an hour or so ago! OsmAnd (OSM Automated Navigation Directions)
This project aims at providing comfortable map viewing and navigation (routing) application for mobile devices. Particular stress lies with complete offline features (via pre-loaded offline map data) or economic internet usage. Functionality
OsmAnd (OSM Automated Navigation Directions) is a map and navigation application with access to the free, worldwide, and high-quality OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. All map data can be stored on your device's memory card for offline use. Via your device's GPS, OsmAnd offers routing, with optical and voice guidance, for car, bike, and pedestrian. All the main functionalities work both online and offline (no internet needed).

- Works online (fast) or offline (no roaming charges when you are abroad)
- Turn-by-turn voice guidance (recorded and synthesized voices)
- Optional lane guidance, street name display, and estimated time of arrival

- Global maps from OpenStreetMap, available per country or region
- Wikipedia POIs, great for sightseeing (not available in free version)
- Unlimited free download, directly from the app (download limit 16 map files in free version)
- Always up-to-date maps (updated at least once a month)
- Compact offline vector maps
- Select between complete map data and just road network (Example: All of Japan is 700 MB, or 200 MB for the road network only)
- Also supports online or cached tile maps
Safety Features
- Optional automated day/night view switching
- Optional speed limit display, with reminder if you exceed it

- Share your location so that your friends can find you
Bicycle and Pedestrian Features
- The maps include foot, hiking, and bike paths, great for outdoor activities

Directly Contribute to OpenStreetMap

- Upload GPX tracks to OSM directly from the app
- Add POIs and directly upload them to OSM (or later if offline)
- Optional trip recording also in background mode (while device is in sleep mode)
